Analogy of Senita Pricing and Homemade Almond Butter

Oh winter. It’s not really winter in Arizona by most standards. With temperature highs in the 70’s, it’s more like winter paradise. We know. But we still get scared when it drops below 50 degrees; like hot cocoa, electric blanket, coats and boots kind of scared. Adaptation, people.

So what is the perfect winter breakfast, warm and hearty and providing essential energy when facing yet another cold morning? Why oatmeal of course. Grandma says it “sticks to your bones,” and everyone knows she’s always right.

But we’re not talking about quick oats here folks, no we want the real deal. We want whole oats in all their textured glory! We want sweetness without added sugar! We want protein without powder! And oh yeah, we want it to take only a few short minutes to cook.

Can it be done?

Drumroll please…Presenting, Banana Almond Butter Oatmeal! Banalmondboat? Okay, the name needs work. But seriously, TRY THIS. Your winter mornings will never be the same.

BABO (No? Name still needs work? C’mon, that’s a good one!)

1/3 cup whole oats

1 banana (preferably with a few brown spots, but it’s okay if not)

2/3 cup water

2 Tablespoons almond butter

½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

1 Tablespoon ground flaxseed (optional)

Place oatmeal in a microwave safe bowl

Top with banana (I usually break it into two halves)

Add water

Microwave on high for 2.5 minutes (only 2.5 minutes, say what?)

Remove from microwave (probably use hot pads, bowl will be hot!)

Add almond butter and optional flaxseed and/or vanilla

Mix with a spoon until fully incorporated and let cool slightly

The banana cooks in the microwave and is the perfect natural sweetener for your oatmeal. You will not miss brown sugar or honey or agave or maple syrup or any other sugar substitute, real or artificial, once you try this!

For added awesomeness, you can try making your own almond butter. It’s seriously so easy and you’ll be totally confident your homemade almond butter is fresh and clean with no preservatives or sugar, etc. Not too mention it’s more affordable, we’ll talk more about that in a minute.

The ingredients are as follows:

Raw Almonds

Kosher salt (you want those big flakes!)

That’s it!

Put 3-4 cups of almonds (depends on size of food processor) in your food processor and turn it on. 15-20 minutes later, you have almond butter! Mix in desired amount of salt (to taste).

Price for 10 oz of store bought almond butter: $7.99 (Justin’s at Target)

Price for a 3 lb bag of raw almonds: $12.98 (Kirkland from Costco)

That 3 lb bag makes two batches of approximately 20 oz each

Wow! So. Much. Better.

Let us now turn our almond butter lesson into an analogy for Senita Athletics. Making your own almond butter = better ingredients, better taste, better cost. Senita = better design, smarter manufacturing, and no overbearing big company to jack up prices.

Look at almost all other premium women’s athletic clothing companies, and you will easily be paying upwards of $80 for tights and tank tops, and often more than that. This is due to the large discrepancy between the price to manufacture a product and the required retail mark up price.

Our method of cutting out the middle man and directly manufacturing our own clothing and bringing it straight to you allows us to set our prices significantly lower than our competitors without sacrificing quality or style. And as a team of former athletes we believe our designs are even more comfortable and functional than the other options you can find out there.

Everything we currently sell is under $50. UNDER $50.

So what we’re saying is, GET REAL! Make real almond butter. Make real oatmeal. Get real quality in your sportswear and get it for REALly affordable prices. Get Senita Atheltics. What are you waiting for?
